 Akira synopsis leaked online? 
A supposed synopsis of the Akira remake has arrived online, outlining what we might be able to expect from events in Neo-Manhattan.

             The synopsis was posted on the Acting Auditions site, alongside “confirmed” cast members Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Stewart, Ken Watanabe and Helena Bonham Carter. Now as far as we were aware, casting on the project has yet to be nailed down, which casts a certain amount of doubt on the legitimacy of the synopsis. However, it still makes for pretty interesting reading…

Kristen Stewart offered female lead in Akira remake

In news that is almost guaranteed to rile fans of the original, Warner Brothers have reportedly approached Kristen Stewart to play the female lead in their upcoming remake of Akira.

Stewart is in the frame to play Kei, a young medium who becomes the love interest for gang-leader Kanedo, the role offered to TRON: Legacy’s Garrett Hedlund.

No word yet on whether Garrett Hedlund has put pen to paper to star in the live action remake of Akira.            However, we do know where director Jaume Collet-Serra wants to splash some more of his $90m budget, having offered roles to Gary Oldman and Helena Bonham-Carter.         It’s rumoured that Oldman has been asked to play the Colonel, while Bonham Carter is wanted for the role of Lady Miyako.

Oh dear, Warner Bros isn’t having much luck with its live-action Akira remake.Hot on the heels of Keanu Reeves’ abandonment of the project, the film has just lost its director, Book Of Eli helmer Albert Hughes.Deadline put Hughes’ departure down to creative differences, with speculation rife that Hughes grew weary over the studio’s inability to find suitable actors for the film’s lead roles.
