John Lasseter responds to Toy Story 4 rumours
After Tom Hanks’ suggestion that they’re already “working on it”, Pixar head John Lasseter has been grilled by the normally reserved hosts of the BBC’s Breakfast show about a fourth instalment of Toy Story.
“We haven’t announced anything, so I can’t really talk about it” was his official-ish response after agreeing that he found Hanks’ gaffe “interesting”.
The shuffling, raised eyebrows and awkward humming are certain to get rumour-mongers thinking that an official announcement could be imminent.
Cars 2 speeds all the way to box office victory
Pixar’s hot-wheeled sequel Cars 2 revved to the top of the US box office this weekend, grossing an impressive $68m.
In a bit of a blow to Pixar’s stellar run, the follow-up to the studio’s 2006 vehicle only managed to bag fair to middling reviews, even though it beat the first Cars’ debut of $60m.
However, the sequel was still streets ahead of the nearest competition, with Cameron Diaz’s Bad Teacher (a fitting title given the critical reactions it’s had) landing in second place with $31m.
First teaser poster from Pixar’s Brave
Pixar have released the first teaser poster for the upcoming Brave. There will also be a teaser trailer attached to Cars 2 showings.
After seeing concept art and an official image over the past few months, fans can finally get a glimpse at the first official poster.
Brave is set in the Scottish Highlands, and is the first Pixar film to feature a female hero as the lead character.
First image from Pixar’s Brave
This year may be all about Cars 2 over at Pixar, but John Lasseter and co clearly haven’t forgotten that next year will belong to a flame-haired, arrow-wielding heroine.
The animation studio has just released the first action pose-y shot from Brave, which is due to open June 2012.
It shows off Princess Merida, a skilled archer who accidentally sets evil upon the Scottish highlands when she is granted a wish.
Proving why it is celebrated as a market leader in CG animation, this first shot from Brave is as luscious and gorgeous to look at as anything Pixar has ever created.

Cars 2 viral revs online
A funky, old-school viral video promoting Cars 2 (in a very roundabout way) has been unveiled online.
Pixar took advantage of this weekend’s WonderCon in San Francisco by parking a car outside the Moscone Centre with a Twitter address emblazoned on the vehicle’s back window.
That @ChromeLeaks account takes Tweeters to a viral website called Cars-n-Deals.com, which contains a funny, fake advert for the Cars N’ Deals of Emeryville.
The ad was directed by Chris Cantwell, who also helmed the fake Lots-o-Huggin bear ad for Toy Story 3 last year.
Cars 2 gets a new trailer
Cars 2 has a new trailer giving us a proper introduction to Michael Caine’s British superspy car Finn McMissile. The trailer also gives away more plot info, and includes a whistlestop tour around the globe as Lightning McQueen and Mater take part in the world Grand Prix, helping McMissile on his top secret mission along the way.
Cars 2 world exclusive image!
Pixar’s Cars 2 vrooms into cinemas later this year, and we’ve just landed a world exclusive image from the movie. Showing off an encounter between new character Finn McMissile (voiced by Michael Caine) and everybody’s favourite buck-toothed rust bucket Mater (voiced by Larry The Cable Guy).

Cars 2 teaser revs up
Cars 2 will be racing into cinemas next June, and Pixar have just released the very first, very teaser-y teaser for the auto-sequel. Upping the action quotient after the more subdued first Cars, this sequel sees Mater and McQueen (i.e. the only characters you really remember from the original) heading off on a Race of Champions world tour.
