Joseph Kosinksi talks Tron 3
Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinksi has revealed that a story for a third Tron movie is currently being ironed out ready for the scripting process. Kosinski’s visually ambitious sequel failed to entirely set the box office alight (it scraped back its $170m budget in US cinemas), while the critics weren’t impressed.
But a decent worldwide profit (near the $400m mark) means that Disney are considering continuing the franchise with a third entry. And Kosinski is pretty sure where the story goes from here.
“I think we will pick with where Tron: Legacy left off,” he reveals, “with Quorra in the real world and what does that mean and the possibilities it opens up for the next chapter. It’s that relationship between the two of them that’s the next step.”
Tron Legacy short The Next Day online
Tron Legacy wasn’t quite as critically well-received as Disney hoped it would be, but there’s no denying it’s an interesting curio with some ravishing visuals. It’s also heading onto DVD and Blu-ray pretty soon – and one of the Blu-ray’s extra features has just been released online via YouTube.
A 10 minute short entitled Tron: The Next Day, the bite-sized film bridges the gap between Tron and Tron Legacy, containing footage shot for the latter that never made the cut. The Next Day tracks the inception of the Flynn Lives organisation, and gives away Legacy’s ending. Spoiler alert and all that.
Jake Gyllenhaal to take on The Bourne Legacy?
Jake Gyllenhaal could be about to replace Matt Damon as the macho man-hero of the Bourne film series. The Source Code star is currently heading up a list of promising young actors who writer-director Tony Gilroy is considering for his Bourne Legacy.
Other actors on that list include Tobey Maguire, Garrett Hedlund, Taylor Kitsch and Kellan Lutz, though apparently a much longer list includes the likes of Josh Hartnett, Paul Dano, Michael Fassbender and Alex Pettyfer. The bigger names are apparently mostly at the behest of Universal, who are understandably antsy that they get their casting on this new Bourne adventure 100% right.
New Still from On The Road (from The Guardian) l Thank you, SO much Laura for posting at GM!
Kristen Stewart, Garrett Hedlund & Sam Riley in official On the Road pics
We’ve previously seen some grainy pap shots from the set of On the Road, and now a bunch of official new images have landed on Sky Movies. Twilight star Kristen Stewart features prominently, in another role that looks set to prove that there’s life after Bella. She’s playing Mary Lou in the movie, which is based on the semi-autobiographical tome by Beat Generation icon Jack Kerouac.
Sam Riley (Control) and Garrett Hedlund (Tron Legacy) star as Sal Paradise and Dean Moriarty, the stand-ins for real-life figures Kerouac and Neal Cassady. On their travels they’ll be bumping into an ultra-hip cast, including Kirsten Dunst, Amy Adams, Elisabeth Moss, Viggo Mortensen and Steve Buscemi.
Tron Legacy is out today, read our review here.
Garrett Hedlund talks On The Road adaptation
We can’t wait to see Garrett Hedlund flinging 3D neon frisbees around in Tron Legacy. But we’re not shallow, we like him for his brains too. So we sat down to talk On The Road, the long-awaited adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s hipster classic stream of consciousness fauxbiography.
