Justice League progress may depend on Man Of Steel
There has been plenty of speculation as to how Warner Bros’ planned Justice League movie might take shape and which superheroes might be involved, but despite all the web chatter, such predictions could yet be a mite premature.

The Comic: Green Lantern Vol. 2 #85-86
The Shocking: Don’t do drugs, kids. That was the clear message not so subtly folded into the pages of this issue, as the Green Arrow’s sidekick Speedy gets hooked on heroin.
“DC attacks youth’s greatest problem… DRUGS!” cried the cover line. The Mayor of New York congratulated DC for tackling such an important issue, but that issue crippled the comic, and it was cancelled just three issues later.

Ryan Reynolds wants to remake Dinner For Eight
The Green Lantern may be able to use his powers to create anything he can conjure up in his imagination, but if there’s one script that film’s star would like to make appear it’s Dinner For Eight.
Ryan Reynolds told DVD & Blu-ray Review magazine that it’s one of his favourite films and is ripe for a remake.
“I have movies that I could watch over and over and over again but if there’s one film I’d like to remake it’s Dinner For Eight. A bunch of society f*ckers all getting together and out-assholing each other. That could be done today,” he said.
It also sounds like one of the actor’s other favourite films would be close to the top of his wish list if a studio was brave enough to think about doing a retread…
Warner says Green Lantern 2 will be ‘edgier’
Warner Bros. film group president Jeff Robinov says the sequel to Green Lantern will be “edgier and darker”.
“We had a decent opening so we learned there is an audience. To go forward we need to make it a little edgier and darker with more emphasis on action. And we have to find a way to balance the time the movie spends in space versus on Earth,” Robinov told the Los Angeles Times…
Green Lantern 2 could still be a possibility
Green Lantern may have suffered from less-than-positive reviews, but Warner Bros are still confident that they can turn the film into a franchise.
The studio hired Michael Goldenberg to write a sequel script way back in August 2010, and it seems they’re keen to continue on with their plans for a Lantern 2.
That comes as a surprise considering Lantern failed to set the box office alight. It opened with a fairly miserable $53m, and has so far only made $89m domestically (something the studio admits is “slightly disappointing”).

Green Lantern lights up the US box office
Green Lantern took its bow at the US box office this weekend, powering its way to the top of the pile and landing $52.6m.
Though nothing to be scoffed at, that’s still $4m short of X-Men: First Class’ opening a few weeks ago – the latter’s debut was considered stable if not overwhelmingly successful.
Lantern did beat Warner Bros’ last attempt to launch a comic-book franchise, however. Six years ago, Batman Begins only opened with $48.7m.
Green Lantern review
“Are you ready to have your mind blown?” asks Ryan Reynolds in Green Lantern.
It’s a leading question that lays down the gauntlet for Martin Campbell’s belated intro to one of DC Comics’ second-tier crime-fighters. Put a line like that in your script and it practically requires you to be mind-blowing. Unfortunately, Lantern isn’t.
