Akira synopsis leaked online?

A supposed synopsis of the Akira remake has arrived online, outlining what we might be able to expect from events in Neo-Manhattan.



The synopsis was posted on the Acting Auditions site, alongside “confirmed” cast members Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Stewart, Ken Watanabe and Helena Bonham Carter. Now as far as we were aware, casting on the project has yet to be nailed down, which casts a certain amount of doubt on the legitimacy of the synopsis. However, it still makes for pretty interesting reading…

When it was announced that the twice Oscar-nominated Helena Bonham Carter would play the role of the witch-esque Havisham in Mike Newell’s forthcoming film, we expected her to bring a dark vibrancy to the role, a creepy jazziness that would set her apart from previous performers.

Looking at the pictures released today of her in full costume, it appears we may have been right.

Helena Bonham Carter, Dwight Yoakam and Barry Pepper are in talks to join the cast of Disney’s The Lone Ranger.

For some time, Johnny Depp was the sole actor attached to the project (he’s playing Tonto), but it’s now gathering pace and scoring quality thesps galore.

Helena Bonham Carter, no stranger to acting alongside Depp, is set to play a brothel madam, which will no doubt give her the chance to create another colourful character to add to her superb back catalogue.

Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan join Byzantium

Neil Jordan’s vampire movie Byzantium has landed its leads in the form of Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan.

The pair will play mother and daughter in a story that sees Arterton’s mama vamp turn her daughter into a creature of the night.

Other actors who’ve already signed up to the project include the impressive likes of Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes and Jeremy Irvine.
