Michelle Williams is Glinda in Oz The Great And Powerful
Michelle Williams is taking a breather from hard-hitting indie dramas to star as Glinda the Good Witch in Sam Raimi’s Oz, The Great And Powerful.
The actress, who’s best known for her impactful turns in films like Brokeback Mountain and Blue Valentine, has bagged the role that Raimi was keen to give to Hilary Swank.
Still, an Oscar nominee instead of an Oscar winner isn’t bad going, and Williams is sure to bring much depth to a role that could easily become overtly cheesy in the wrong hands.
Also signed for Raimi’s Oz prequel are Mila Kunis as Theodora, the Wicked Witch of the West, James Franco as the wizard of Oz, and Rachel Weisz as Evanora, the Wicked Witch of the East.
Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes trailer lands
Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes has burst onto the radar this week, with a title change, a teaser clip, and now a trailer. Giving a back story to the events that led to the famous Planet of the Apes series, Rise gives us Franco’s scientist playing God with monkey brains. The film also features Freida Pinto, Tom Felton, John Lithgow, Brian Cox and an ape-pearance by mo-cap master Andy Serkis.
James Franco and Anne Hathaway performing Grease tribute?
James Franco and Anne Hathaway could very well be journeying back in time to recreate a classic scene from musical Grease for this Sunday’s Academy Awards. Footage of the pair re-enacting that film’s climactic carnival scene has been posted online by Franco himself, who we all know likes to play around with cameras. It’s most likely that this is footage of the Oscar hosts filming a segment for the ceremony, but could it be something else?

We have much higher hopes for this pairing than the Baldwin/Martin fiasco.
Your Highness red band trailer released
The first footage from James Franco and Natalie Portman’s medieval romp Your Highness has unleashed in the form of a red band trailer. The fantastical tale, which is obviously going for a Princess Bride feel, follows Franco’s Fabious, whose missus (Zooey Deschanel) is kidnapped by a gloriously camp evil wizard (Justin Theroux). Embarking on a quest to reclaim her, Fabious encounters Natalie Portman’s warrior princess, a minotaur, and various other fantasy movie problems. So, The Beastmaster meets Pineapple Express, then. Colour us excited. This could be the best fantasy comedy since Willow. High praise indeed.
The Bourne Legacy: Casting Call
1) James Franco as Bourne
Why He’s Perfect: Ask the Hollywood rumour mill. If you believe the Chinese whispers emerging from the industry, Franco has as good as bagged himself the lead in the new Bourne franchise, although crucially, he won’t be playing Bourne himself. He’ll likely be another victim of Treadstone’s brainwash-heavy training program, possibly a contemporary of the great man himself. So would he be up to the job? Well, his performance in 127 Hours would suggest he’d be up to the task physically, and we already know he’s got charm and warmth in spades. Okay, so he might not have a lot of action credits on his CV, but Matt Damon was hardly Arnie when he joined the series. Franco is the frontrunner by a distance, and to our minds, an excellent choice.
127 Hours gets full trailer - more footage, more Franco
James Franco’s man-pinned-to-rock flick 127 Hours has released another trailer online ahead of its bow at the BFI London Film Festival. Directed by Danny Boyle, the film’s based on the true story of mountain climber Aron Ralston, who gets trapped in the Utah desert during a trek. Can he survive?
This film is one I definitely want to check out.

Danny Boyle teaser hits web
Danny Boyle has been doing more than polishing his Oscar (steady…) since Slumdog swept away all before it, and a new trailer has popped up online to prove just that.
Fox Searchlight have released the first teaser trailer for survival drama 127 Hours, and from the looks of things, it promises to be a fairly tense affair.
