Director James Mangold discusses The Wolverine
Ah The Wolverine… if ever there were a film to file under the heading “Development Hell”, the long-awaited sequel to X-Men Origins would surely be it.
However, things do appear to be moving again, with Walk The Line director James Mangold having discussed his vision for the project. And whilst we’re loathe to get too excited about this just yet, we have to admit, his ideas sound great.
“The fact that half of the characters in this movie speak Japanese,” explained Mangold to The Playlist, “[means] this is like a foreign-language superhero movie that’s as much a drama and a detective story and a film noir with high-octane action, as it is anything like a conventional tentpole film.”

Doug Liman added to The Wolverine directors shortlist
A shortlist of directors who are currently favourite to take on comic-book sequel The Wolverine has surfaced online.
Among them are the expected ‘trending’ names like Justin Lin (who’s been attached to Terminator 5 and Fast & Furious 6 as well as a handful of other projects) and the RoboCop reboot’s Jose Padilha.
Other names include James Mangold, Antoine Fuqua, Gavin O’Connor, Mark Romanek and Gary Shore.
