The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists is setting sail for multiplexes soon, and we’ve got our hands on an exclusive clip…
David Tennant talks Pirates, plasticine and secret projects
While lounging around his West End dressing room waiting to go on-stage to perform in Much Ado About Nothing, former timelord Tennant, talked Total Film through how he’s been keeping busy since stepping away from the Tardis.
First up he’s starring as a tight-trousered Las Vegas illusionist in the 3D update of Fright Night, then he’ll lend his voice to Aardman’s latest The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists (released 28 March 2012).
He took time to talk to us about his work with Aardman animation, a top secret future project, and the possibility of returning to Doctor Who…
Johnny Depp enters negotiations for Pirates 5
Despite previously sounding unsure about making a Pirates 5, Johnny Depp has officially entered talks to play Captain Jack Sparrow for a fifth time.
The fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean film, On Stranger Tides, just brought its total worldwide gross to a staggering $1bn. No surprise, then, that Disney are keen on continuing the profitable franchise.
During press for Stranger Tides, Depp had mentioned he’d like to take a break from Jack for a while for fear of a backlash against the character…
Probably the greatest Facebook Page in existence:
‘Orlando Blooms a total CUNT for not be in the new Pirate of Caribbean Film.’
Sam found this group on Facebook… it has so much win!
From the poor spelling, grammar and grasp of reality, to the fact that he says the ‘Johnny Depp is the only one who needs to sign’ and then says ‘Orlando… sign up for this great film you cunt!’
Check out this first and only comment from August 2009:
‘This man is a tit! I am so angry right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’
Ryan Gosling in talks to join Johnny Depp in The Lone Ranger
In a piece of casting speculation that’s so goddam cool we’ll probably cry if it doesn’t come into being, The Wrap has revealed that Ryan Gosling is in early talks to join Johnny Depp in The Lone Ranger.
Depp has long been cast as Native American sidekick Tonto in the Disney movie, which will be directed by Pirates 1-3’s Gore Verbinski, but until now there’s been no indication of who could don the stetson and mask to play the Texas Ranger.
The report states that Gosling is in very early talks, and is keen to mention that his busy schedule (including a starring role in the Logan’s Run remake) could keep him from signing on here.
If he could find a way to make it work, Gosling would surely be the perfect foil to Depp’s Tonto. He’s got the matinee idol looks to play the hero, but he’s never afraid to subvert expectations when it comes to his leading man status.
Pirates of the Caribbean 4 gets a new trailer
A new, fuller trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has sailed online.
This latest promo gives a much better idea of what to expect in terms of plot than any previous promos have.
We see here that Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow is commissioned to lead a crew to find the elusive fountain of youth, although it seems everyone has their eyes on the ultimate prize.
Exclusive! First image of Ian Mcshane as Blackbeard in Pirates 4!
Disney have given Total Film an exclusive first look at Ian McShane as Blackbeard in upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean sequel, On Stranger Tides.
Disney hire writer for Pirates 5
Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 opens this May, but Disney are so confident it’ll be a success that they’ve hired Shrek scribe Terry Rossio to begin writing a fifth film. Rossio has penned all four of the Pirates films thus far with writing partner Ted Elliot, though it appears that he’ll be walking the plank alone with the as-yet-untitled Pirates 5.
