His latest role in Rupert Wyatt’s Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes sees Felton scruff up and don his best US accent to play  primate-pestering bully Dodge, opposite a CGI ape, created by Andy  Serkis through performance capture.

Full Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes trailer online

The first full trailer for Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes has landed online.

After an impressive first teaser, this longer look at the prequel focuses more on the human characters and gives us more of an idea of the film’s plot.

James Franco plays a scientist who’s looking for an Alzheimer’s cure by testing apes. But one ape, Caesar, stars to show signs of sentience.

Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes trailer lands

Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes has burst onto the radar this week, with a title change, a teaser clip, and now a trailer. Giving a back story to the events that led to the famous Planet of the Apes series, Rise gives us Franco’s scientist playing God with monkey brains. The film also features Freida Pinto, Tom Felton, John Lithgow, Brian Cox and an ape-pearance by mo-cap master Andy Serkis.

Tom Felton lent his cherubic features to a number of adverts before he made his feature debut in The Borrowers (the movie version, not the Ian Holm-starring TV show). It must have been a useful Potter-preparation exercise for the then nine-year-old, as he gained experience of appearing in an adaptation of a well-loved children’s book, worked on a fun, large-scale set, and appeared alongside future Potter stars Jim Broadbent and Mark Williams.
